Hello and welcome to Glitter & Neon, a place to dump all your creativity and show us what inspires you. We launched this site and podcast to bring creative minds, artists, and musicians in our community together. If you are an emerging artist or have been in the industry for years, then you are in the right place. Here you will find a very small recap of our first podcast ever! For more info on why we launched this project, what our artistic pet peeves are, and to get a taste of our awkward nature, have a listen here: Podcast #1
Sasha: Has a lot to talk about, but doesn't talk a lot. She is a graphic designer and illustrator.
Janet: I talk too much when I'm nervous. I am a painter and freelance artist.

We met in 2004, our junior year of high school, and have stayed friends for over 13 years now. Even though we are polar opposites, the love for art and music really brought us together. During this time we really used music to fuel inspiration, and one of the bands that stands out in both our minds is Save the Day. Full of angst and dark lyrics, it was the perfect soundtrack for our last two years in high school. There are so many other bands that we can name, Briertone, AFI, Boys Night Out, The White Stripes, The Used etc. but we really bonded over Saves the Day.
Our very first collaboration was a mural project where we had to create a replica of the painting "La Mandolina" by Jose Royo. Both of us agree that this was a challenge, as far as scale and style. However, it pushed us to improve our skill as artists, and we really found where our strengths and weaknesses were. The second large scale collaboration we did was another mural but this time replicating Edward Hopper's "Room In New York" Sasha was originally drawn to this painting because of the piano which has a big significance in her life on a personal level. Once we started working on this piece it turned out to be a large influence in my [Janet] painting technique later on with my own original pieces. Both murals are still up at the high school for all future generations to admire. One of these days we will pay them a visit, so stay connected with us through our Instagram and Twitter where we will keep you up to date on all our artistic adventures.
